The winery is owned and operated by Serena Friedman, M.D. and Michael Drucker, M.D. Four Sisters Ranch is a family affair, named after our four daughters (the "Four Sisters"): Sacheen, Elan, Toccara, and Sierra, who each contribute uniquely to our success.

Our family

Our family

Since 1989 we have been passionate about growing high quality, premium wine grapes. In 2007 we began also producing bulk and private-label wines for many renowned wineries in the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Texas, and internationally. In 2007, with great pride and passion, we released our first vintage, 2005, of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah under our own label! Since then, we have released myriad vintages of our wines and have received multiple awards and accolades. In 2015, Four Sisters Ranch expanded to feature a beautiful tasting room, event space, and a new series of hand-crafted, small-batch artisan wines available exclusively in our tasting room.

Additionally, our unique position as two medical doctors and wine producers has compelled us to promote the antioxidant health benefits of moderate wine consumption. Dr. Serena Friedman was able to address these health benefits and other issues as a keynote speaker at the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair as well as the Yantai International Wine Exposition; and she continues to stay on top of the most recent studies and research on this topic.

Where it all Began

Back in 1989, with unbounded enthusiasm, we transformed beautiful land with rolling hills and oak trees into a vineyard called Oak Creek Vineyard. There was no well, no electricity to pump the water, no irrigation pipes, no trellises or drip lines, and no grape plants when we began. We carefully observed and learned from the development of that vineyard the necessary steps to create a vineyard that consistently provides grapes for premium wines. With this success, we were able to purchase much additional land on the Estrella River bank in the Paso Robles AVA. After years of attending viticulture classes and working with experienced professionals and consultants, we started developing Four Sisters Ranch into the vineyard and winery that exists today. We now have over 400 acres of vineyards planted on 500 acres of land!

From putting in our first irrigation pipes, to choosing the clones and trellises, to supervising the harvest and the wine production, we were (and still are) “hands-on” in making these wines come to life. We selected the land, evaluated the soils, decided on the rootstocks and clones, chose the spacing of the rows, type and adjustment of the trellising, irrigation systems, and canopies to allow just the right amount of light and air to bring the grapes to their highest potential. We also decided on fertilization, watering, thinning of the plants, timing of the harvest, selection of the winemakers, and fine-tuning of the wines to achieve premium quality.

The Promise of Paso Robles

Endless articles have been published on the wonderful wines of Paso Robles and we truly believe this to be the next great wine region. Acclaimed wine critic Robert M. Parker, Jr. believes that the Paso Robles AVA along the Central Coast shows some of the greatest potential in all of the state. In fact, Wine Spectator Magazine continues to choose Paso Robles wines as some of their top picks in the world, while Wine Enthusiast Magazine named Paso Robles the 2013 Wine Region of the Year and Sunset Magazine named Paso Robles the Best Wine Country Town in 2016!

Centrally located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, Paso Robles is an optimal area for growing hearty grapes and is especially acclaimed for its Rhône grape varietals, such as Syrah. Paso Robles, sometimes called "the new Napa", is known for its favorable microclimates and varying soils from the west side to the east side. Our warm days and cool nights foster the best out of these grapes and result in wines that are lengthy and richly expressive. Passion flows from our wines and we can't wait to welcome to you to our tasting room to share them with you!

We continue to strive to use the best sustainable farming practices in our business.
